Why Replace the Halogen with LED?

How it Began

Since the time Thomas Edison introduced the pinnacle of electric luminous device evolution, light Bulb, the tides began to turn. From small housing to large military bases, a revolution sprouted that changed the world as we live today. The light bulb is undisputedly the greatest invention since the internal combustion engine because it allowed humanity to remain active when the sun disappeared.
Even though a century and two scores have passed since the electric bulb first lit, the need for more light yet better light has not died out. To the amazement of many readers, the incandescent bulb is actually the clever invention of Nikola Tesla, the unsung inventor AKA “the greatest geek who ever lived”. There has been several debates regarding the right to the patent of the electric bulb, where even though Nikola Tesla had the blue prints to the invention, Thomas Edison is considered the father of its design.
Moving on, the electric bulb gradually upgraded as the technology progressed with better and pth century when researchers were able to successfully pass electric current through vacuumed glass tubes hence creating the first fluorescent light. The Fluorescent light gave birth to energy efficient lighting systems in 1976 almost 100 later the invention of the original bulb. The CFL was created by Edward Hammer in General Electric who cleverly bended the glass tubes in spiral shapes that miniaturizing the large hefty structure into a compact lamp.
urer tungsten filament to finer and sturdier glass. But during the 40 years of their prime period, the bulbs came very expensive and with extremely short lifespans. It was not until the 19
The CFL is still being used to this day, however, what is stealing the show is the newest and sharpest tool in the shed, the LED bulb. Although the LED was invented in 1962 by the same company, the “white” LED light was later invented during the 1990s. This helped researchers develop energy efficient lighting with much higher performance and extended lifespan. LEDs entered various applications after that from Television screens to high intensity car lights.
There has been numerous advances since 2000 from packed LED lighting systems to colour spectrums of LED lights. Philips soon became the captain of this industry by winning the L Prize in 2011 by introducing a LED bulb replacement to the 60watt incandescent bulb that saved 90% energy and lasted 25 times longer. With the growing need and trend of LED lights many websites have begun selling LED products online. One of the top leading websites is Sheerled.
